Naval Science 1

Welcome to the Naval Science I (NJROTC) Class Website!

Naval Science-1--Introduces the student to the High School Naval Science curriculum which emphasizes citizenship and basic leadership skills. Academic lessons include general citizenship topics, naval history and organization, marine geography and personal motivation. The weekly class schedule consists of three days academic work, one day of military drill and one day of physical training. This schedule is supplemented by field trips to various military activities to enhance classroom learning. Leadership training is accomplished by both classroom work and practical application. There is no active/reserve requirements to the military. Students who complete three or more years of ROTC and graduates can enlist at a higher paygrade. Students with a High Grade Point Average and Sat Score can also benefit with various military scholarships.

The NAVAL JUNIOR OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (NJROTC), has the following basic objectives:

-Promote patriotism.

-Develop informed and responsible citizens.

-Promote habits of orderliness and precision, and develop respect for constituted authority.

-Develop a high degree of personal honor, self-reliance, individual discipline, and leadership.

-Promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security.

-Develop respect for and an understanding of the need for constituted authority in a democratic society.

-Develop an interest in the military service as a possible career.
