Were you absent the day we watched the National Geographic Documentary Strange Days on Planet Earth: Invaders?

Could you not be bothered to copy the chart from the board that outlined the invasive species in three regions and discussed their impacts?

Do you now have a zero for the assignment and wish to make it up?

Well here's your chance to remedy that.

Download the chart and go to the companion website for the documentary. Read about the problems facing each region and fill in the chart.

Since the arthropods are such a large and diverse phylum we will devote two lab to exploring them. In the first you will learn about 3 subphyla - Trilobitomorpha, Chelicerata, and Crustacea.

Before we delve into the amazing world of arthropods you need to learn the terminology. Otherwise you'll be lost during lab and class discussion.

Remember to select the correct definition of the word as it pertains to the arthropods. Any other definition is not valid.

As we begin a new unit on Biodiversity the students will be responsible for conducting some research. Download the handout if you lost the copy you received in class.

We will be going to the Media Center on 4.14-15.09 to utilize any resources available there. In order to ensure that you are on task for our visit, you must submit to me, in writing, a proposal for your project. There are 7 options from which to choose. Please thoroughly review the directions and choose your option carefully as once you have chosen, you cannot change your mind.

While I may be partial to polychaetes because of my previous life as a researcher, I'm certainly not the only one fascinated with annelids. Hopefully by the end of this lab you will have also gained a new appreciation for worms!

In class you created a list of things that you use everyday that requires electricity. Now you will determine how much it costs your family to use these items based on how much you use them.

You will research and create a presentation on any type of energy. By now you should have chosen a topic one the sign up sheet on the front board. Do NOT wait until the last minute to get started!

1. Do you have any idea how a shortfall of $170 million (estimated) to the Duval County school budget will impact you? Not only will students, faculty and stafff be affected, but society as a whole benefits from an educated population. Do you benefit from help after school? Do you participate in extra-curricular activities? Do you enjoy pursuing the fine arts? All of these things may be effected by budget cuts. Write to your legislators to let them know what you think. Due to me by 2/14/09.
