Hello, Students and Parents!

Vocab Story Take Home Test: Due: Monday, 11/24. *Worth a test grade, so DO YOUR BEST!

Questions? Email me at: rolfek@duvalschools.org

Dr. Leslie Smart has built a unique submersible, but no one knows WHY... Her assistant, Larry, will slowly discover the reason one day during a dive into the ocean.

Assignment:
Your story must contain the following:

  1. facts from Workshop 7
  2. 5 cause & effect relationships (transitions)
  3. 3 idioms
  4. 8 vocab words
  5. sensory descriptive language
Tips: You can:
  1. Write it like a journal from either Dr. Smart or Larry's point of view.
  2. Write it like a regular story as the narrator.
  3. Make the submersible one-of-a-kind! (But don't let it conflict with the text... Remember, a submersible must be smaller than a regular submarine to withstand the incredible water pressure.
  4. Be creative & entertaining.
  5. Email it to me at: rolfek@duvalschools.org
  6. Email me if you have questions in general about the assignment.
But don't:
  1. Give away Dr. Smart's secret until near the end!!
  2. Make the story TOO LONG. 1-2 pages is the limit.
  3. Focus too much on one particular thing. Overall, you need to keep in mind the secret, and then write about how Larry eventually discovers it.
  4. Forget you must include your transitions, vocab, etc...
