Kathleen High School AFJROTC

Welcome to Kathleen High School's Aerospace Science Program, also known as AFJROTC. AFJROTC is the abbreviation for " Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps." Students in our program are designated members of the Florida 92nd AFJROTC Cadet Corp. Our Group is but one over 900 AFJROTC units operation in the United States. As a new member you join the ranks of over 120,000 cadets in AFJROTC nationwide.

AFJROTC is a voluntary, elective course. For each year you satisfactorily complete you will receive one full credit per school year. There is no military obligation to the active duty armed forces involved in your enrolling in JROTC except that you must meet active duty uniform and grooming standards during the time you are a cadet.

The two major parts to the JROTC program are academics and military/leadership training. Normally, about one-half of your class time will be devoted to academic studies with your Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) and one-half of the class time will be spent on miltary/leadership training. After uniforms have been issued, one day per week will be designated as "uniform day." In addition to uniform inspection, appropriate drill instruction will be provided. It is very important that you care for and wear your Air Force uniform properly and that you always meet the Air Force dress and appearance standards.

As a cadet enrolled in AFJROTC you can expect to learn a lot about aviation subjects and also you can expect to learn a lot about yourself and your leardership potential. Many of our graduates have told us that JROTC was "the most important course I attended at Kathleen High School." This could be the case for you too if you are willing to follow the two GOLDEN RULES of JROTC: YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK, and YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES. AFJROTC is a team club and those who join the team find a lot of fun and an achievement of which they can be proud of.
