Mrs. Peterson

About

Mrs. Susan B. Peterson is a graduate of University of Central Florida and Daytona Beach Community College, with a Bachelor's degree in French and an Associate's degree in Fine Arts. She is currently working on her Masters in Education through Nova University, with an emphasis in Applied Brain-Based Learning Methods. Her teaching experience began first as a corporate trainer, then as a training program developer and writer, and next as an education director for a non-profit organization. She is fortunate that many of her college and career opportunities have allowed her to travel 39 states and 15 countries. She loves teaching her students about this wonderful world of ours.

In the public school system, Mrs. Peterson was first a substitute teacher with Orange County, teaching for two years for all grade levels. She was enlisted in the Alternate Teacher Certification Program and has been teaching 4th grade full time at Fern Creek Elementary since February 2004. Mrs. Peterson is certified in Elementary Education K-6 and French K-12. She enjoys reading, journaling, working out, politics, travel and anything French!

Mrs. Peterson is married to Mr. Peterson, who has served as a Fern Creek mentor. Family is very important to her: she has 1 brother and 4 sisters (including a twin sister), has 10 nieces and nephews, two grand-nieces and a sheltie collie named Scottie :). Her parents have been married for over 50 years. Her mother is a retired school teacher and a former Teacher of The Year and visits the class each year on Curl Up and Read Day. Mrs. Peterson has wanted to be a school teacher ever since she was a little girl and 4th Grade is her absolute favorite grade to teach! The most repeated phrase used by her in her classroom is: 'Has anyone seen my glasses?' :)

ACCORDING TO HER STUDENTS...(who in writing class are working on descriptive synonymns and perhaps thought the kinder the descriptions, the higher the grade ;)
